It is not that we do not know the truth or reality of life, we all know it, but our issues is forgetfulness. That is why Guru Nanak ji gave so much importance to the art of ‘remembrance’. All his teachings & techniques are towards one goal itself, which is, somehow we dwell in this divine remembrance all the time. This is moksha, nirvana, enlightenment or ultimate liberation. For example, there is not even a single person on earth who does not know the reality of death, but still we go on acquiring, possessing, struggling for name fame etc. when we know that all of this will be left behind, but we often forget about this reality and in that forgetfulness we keep running around to chase peace & happiness in the world outside. Nanak ji says, Naam Japo, remember ‘the divine will’ all the time and remember that you are just a tool in god’s hand. Remembrance is the ultimate key which will open the door to the divine.
